Technical Information

  • Housing Dimensions: 1.42" square, 0.315" thick
  • Weight packaged: 0.244 Lb
  • Wire type: #20 600V rated
  • Relay Current Info: Max current draw for Autoswitch trigger wire (violet) is 200mA @12Volts With 150mA preffered maximum.
  • Weight installed with wires: 0.202 Lb
  • Wire lengths: Power feed, 24" Sense wire yellow 36"
  • Package includes: 3 8" tie wraps, 6 4" tie wraps, 2 wire clips, adhesive tape, instructions.

How It Works

The visual LED blinks rapidly during the timed "window" up to 10 seconds long when you should release the trigger signal (high beam switch). The single tap to flash the high beams or leaving the high beams on will not activate the Autoswitch. LED shines green to indicate power to your auxiliary lights relay.

Wiring

No information is currently provided.

Installation

The Autoswitch is easy to install. If you already have auxiliary driving lights installed with a controlling toggle switch and relay, Put the Autoswitch VIOLET wire where your toggle switch was connected on the relay coil pin. Tap the RED into any ignition-swtiched 'ON' wire for power, YELLOW wire to the high beam bulb wire. Add connection to ground, and neatly tuck the Autoswitch and wires out of the way in any convenient location. And without building a bracket, drilling any holes, or modifying your dash, you’re done!

Go ahead and look at the detailed instruction sheets but don't be spooked by the amount of text! The above paragraph is really what it's all about if you are a knowledgable tech or shadetree mechanic.

Additional Information

What is Autoswitch?

AutoSwitch is an electronic circuit technically called a parasitic switch. This electronic circuit uses existing switches and circuits on the vehicle by just sensing their action or position. The Autoswitch can sense voltage variations/changes OR ground/chassis contact on its sense wire and act according to installer/user set up and program.

How does it work?

Autoswitch detects or senses on the trigger wire connected to the high beam wire, or a tail brake bulb wire or a turn signal cancel button, for example. The circuit then controls a high power relay (included with a light kit or widely available) by applying or removing 12 Volts to the relay. The relay then passes high power to any accessory such as driving lights. Any accessory with a power draw under 200mA (GPS, Cellphone charger, small LEDs lights) can be powered directly by Autoswitch.

Technical Information

Housing Dimensions: 1.42" square, 0.315" thick
Weight packaged: 0.244 Lb
Wire type: #20 600V rated
Contact Closure Info: This is not a current carrying contact, it can only be used to close circuit between its two wires.
Weight installed with wires: 0.202 Lb
Wire lengths: Power feed, 24" Sense wire yellow 36". Wire to opener 36".
Package includes: 3 8" tie wraps, 6 4" tie wraps, 2 wire clips, adhesive tape, instructions.

How It Works

AS7G will close contacts or "short" the same 2 points that become shorted inside your garage-remote-control-transmitter whenever you press the activation button. The AS7G closes the circuit to activate your remote, for 1-second each time you activate the AS7G by whatever circuit it is triggered by on the vehicle. The best way to trigger the AS7G would be the high beam, or brake light (best to set up AS7G as 2-pulse) or a horn or the turn signal cancel button on many BMW bikes only. The 2 orange wires from the AS7G must be soldered inside your remote for this to happen.
