The Cee Bailey's Aircraft
Plastics, Inc., BMW R1200GS windshield was designed for
simplicity and utility. The windshield is available in three
widths*, 2"wider than standard, 3" & 4" wider than the stock BMW
windshield. The windshield can be ordered from 1" to 6" taller than
the stock BMW shield also. The windshield is hand crafted from .150
aircraft grade acrylic, with hand polished and beveled edges. Each
windshield fits using the original BMW side adjusting hardware, and
two longer finishing screws are provided for the front-end mounting.
The new windshield retains the stock adjustability of the original
screen.
*Testing of the screens in all height & width configurations
show wind blast protection to the torso area is significantly
increased, and helmet wind noise signature is decreased when the ram
air hits near the top of your helmet. On a 6ft1" rider 33" inseam,
the ideal shield would be a +4" taller and 2" wider. With this size
the rider will still be looking over the shield, while the ram air
from the top of the shield could be deflected to the top of the
helmet via the adjustability. Although the +6inch tall works fine in
the street environment, we have not tested this size shield in the
dirt, but have many miles on a +4inch tall on fire roads and desert
trails, with no tendency to deflect or bend in the mounting bracket.
